Parent Line Website

CatholicCare’s Parent Line is a free counselling service for Parents and Carers of children 0– 18 across NSW 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Our professional counsellors areavailable now to talk to parents about a wide range of issues.

At Parent Line, we know that thejoys and rewards of parenting are many. We also know that sometimes issues cancrop up that can challenge families. Some of these include challenges with adjusting to going to school, transitionsfrom primary school to high school, issues around family breakdown, helping achild who is being bullied at school, the stress of supporting children throughthe HSC to name a few. At times parenting can be tough!

It’s during times like these, that we all need someone to listen to our story, help us remember andacknowledge our successes and strengths and help us find new ways of sortingthrough these challenges.  Parent LineNSW provides exactly that.

Now just before our 2ndanniversary of going 24/7 we have launched a new website www.parentline.org.au.   This website is a great new resource forparents and carers that is easy to read and access and gives parents and caresthe facility to email us with enquiries.

Of course the best way to get thebest help from Parent Line is to talk to one of our professionalcounsellors.  They can listen to yourissues and tailor some strategies that could assist your family.

Last year Parent Line Counsellorshelped over 8,000 parents and carers across NSW with a wide range of parentingissues. We are lucky enough to have 5 male counsellors on our team, if thereare Dad’s who prefer to speak to another male.

Concerned about any parenting issue? Ring Parent Line NOW.

New Kids Helpline Website
Kids Helpline has launched its new website at www.kidshelp.com.au! The new site offers a safe, fun and interactive place for kids and young people to explore issues that are important to them.

We believe that our website is a valuable resource for kids, and have received great feedback since its launch in June. Feel free to bookmark the site and download our screensavers and wallpaper for use in your classroom.

The site has been split into age specific 'micro-sites', with one section dedicated to kids aged 5-12 years old, accessible at
www.kidshelp.com.au/kids. We are constantly updating this section with new hot topics and poll questions, which are ideal to incorporate into classroom activities, so check back regularly.

Features of the new site include:
  • downloadable screensavers and wallpapers
  • interactive games and activities
  • 'Hot topics' on common problems and concerns for kids
  • stories from kids who have experienced and overcome challenges in their lives
  • an interactive poll
  • a more user friendly gateway to our counselling services.

'Name the Kids Helpline dog' competition

Feedback from kids told us that they would like a mascot on the website - to help them around the site and to help make them feel more comfortable and safe. We asked kids to choose what they would like the new mascot to be, and they chose a friendly, spotty dog!

We now need a name for our new mascot, and are running a competition for school kids to come up with the best name. The competition is open to kids aged 5-12, and there are some great prizes on offer, including prizes for schools.

Kids can enter the competition as a class or individually, by downloading the competition form, completing the colouring-in activity, and naming the dog. They also need to provide a reason for the dog's name!
